I planted a few seeds on April 1st into black plastic, just as an experiment. We they took off and I picked my first small watermelon on June 18th.

It was only a little more than 3 pounds, but it sure tasted like summer!

The big melon patch is growing like a forest fire! The were planted on May 20th, and we have plants vining out and blooming!

Here is the next planting. I planted them about 3 weeks later. They are just getting their first true leaves.

I am putting in a third, MUCH smaller planting in by July 1. Hoping to fill the late fall melon void we seem to have at our markets.
