Saw you posted this over on HT also with no reply so I guess I'll take a shot. IIRC there are some programs through USDA but I think they are more for lagre scale growers (in the dozens of acres). There was a fellow a few years ago on HT that had some questions about how losses were figured - there was some convoluted formula they used - for apples. I also beleive there was an experimental program in limited areas a couple years ago for vegies for smaller growers but have not read anything further about it. I think the cost was pretty high and there was a lot of paperwork to inrole. You had to have production records for 5 years (I think) to figure your average yield and then a county average then they calc loss from that. Like I said it was a pretty complicated formula. You might try your local USDA if your prety serious about it. There is a handbook from RMA (about the size of a phone book) but if you look at Exibit 2 in the back it gives covered crops and the policy type so you could track down the details. Best of luck.

I have looked into this and my insurance company is getting back to me. They figured out that they could insure my high tunnels, but it would be for the crops inside. It would be a loss of income insurance. THey are figuring a premium cost. They haven't got back to me yet.
