stinky zucchini??

I had zucchini at the market the other day and brought home just a few. We made dinner out of most of them except one. It had a scar on it the full lenght, not unusal to me, but inside WOW the minute we cut it open to slice it the kicthen smelled like we had a thousand cats!!
Any ideas on the cause?
