bunched carrots wilting

Hello,
I have a roadside stand and have some carrots I will be bunching and selling, with the tops on. They seem to get soft and rubbery really quick. I tried putting them on ice packs but even that didn't help. They were picked at 10 am and out on the stand till 6 pm, on ice packs, and they still got rubbery. They were not in direct sun. It has been hot, about 75'F but not blistering.
How do you folks keep carrots crisp and fresh on your stands?
Thanks, Maplea |

| Probably the water is exiting through the leaves that you've left on. Try cutting off all but 2-3 inches of stem. You'll still have that fresh-picked look, but not all of that leafy area letting water evaporate. Katey |

| A carrot with the top on is a living plant and the leaves will draw nutrients and water from the carrot so I always cut off the tops right away. Also, carrots like to be damp and cold but not freezing. |
