Early and good-tasting watermelon

Living in the San Francisco Bay Area where temps can easily vary 30 degrees at the same time in a 25 minute drive on the same day, I often get asked for watermelon starts. I have to ask where they live because the high temps which watermelons like don't exist all over. Can anyone suggest an early and good-tasting watermelon to meet such a situation. Thanks, dean

RE: Early and good-tasting watermelon

From everything I read this is by far the best.

Blacktail Mountain: 76 days. My own development, created while I lived in northern Idaho, a location which has cool 35 to 45 degree nights and short seasons. The fruit is dark green with very faint stripes, flesh is an orange red similar to Sugar Baby. Continuously, it is my earliest type in over 100 varieties grown each season. Fruit averages 6 to 10 pounds. Pkt $1.75; 1 oz. $7.00 OG

developed by the owner of Sandhill Preservation. This is the best seed company in my opinion. We should all support their preservation efforts.
