best selling tomatoes

Posted by mbrown297 (My Page) on Sun, Aug 1, 04 at 6:56
I just started selling tomatoes this year. I have Rutgers, Black Prince, Cherokee Purple, Brandywine Pink and Stupice. They have all been very productive. I would like to know what everyone else is growing and more importantly, what sells well at markets and restaurants. My primary markets are a restaurant and health food store.
Thanks,

| I sell over 50 varieties of heirlooms and I always make sure I have a heavy crop of Black from Tula, White Wonder, Cherokee Purple, Boxcar Willie and Stump of the World. I always have customers wanting more and more of these particular varieties. Black Krim, Valencia, Abe Lincoln and Green Zebra also sell well. DD |

| For our reataurant customers, rainbow cherry tomatoes are a big hit - Black cherry, pink niblet, Dr. Carolyn, snow white, Dr. Carolyn pink, Sun sugar, isis candy (has become larger than the others), gardener's delight - just to name a few. We mix & pack in pints & sell for $1.75. To add to the above, Kellogg's breakfast, Paul Robeson, Anna Russian, Aunt Ruby's German green, Old German - all colors - shape doesn't seem to matter as long as the different colors are there. They make beautiful plate presentation. |
