Squash blossoms, more?

| I've been developing a nice market in squash blossoms, I can usually get $.75 each with my restaurant customers and I never seem to have as many as they want. Interestingly, taking all the blossoms I can get doesn't seem to affect (summer)squash production. Anyone know if there are varieties that produce more blossoms than others? Any grown just for their blossoms?

Hi M: What type of squash are you growing? I am growing patty pan squash but only for the patty pan to sell. They seem to have an abundance of blossoms, never tried selling the blossoms because I thought it would affect the production. Thanks for the piece of info. Maybe my restaurant chef would be interested. Up here you never see patty pan squash being sold in the markets so I grew it because of the originality. Thanks |

| You can take at least half of the male blossoms without affecting productivity much. Markets in Mexico do a booming business in the blossoms, especially the ones with immature squash on them. They were just the usual market mongrel summer squash. YOu can also use zucchini blossoms. |

| Costata Romanesque has the biggest male flowers of any squash and they are tasty-you should be able to get $1 or more for each if you can get 75¢ from other kinds. these are twice the size of the other zuke flowers we grow |

| Can you use any typical male squash flower? Will they taste different? |

| My friend uses any squash blossom, including pumpkin blossoms. Has anyone noticed extra large blossoms this year? Almost 2x as big as usual. |
