Thoughts on selling poke salad?

I feel certain the market for poke salad would be slim. Just wondering any thoughts or if anyone has seen it sold. We have it growing all over the place on our land, I am sure I could count 100 plants with out any problem.

I know there are people that do desire poke. My grandma used to have my grandpa drive all over our land in the spring, hunting for 1 little spot that grew poke salad.

There might be a market, but in my area, it would be a very small market. Good luck and give it a try, you might need to give recipes and directions on how to cook.

You might start a new 'niche'.

Poke is a very short season crop, since it isn't as usable as it gets bigger & gets berries. Figure I can harvest a little, rubber band it together & set it in a basket for a few $$$ a bundle along with a description, disclaimer not to use the stems & reciepe.

I will have to find a way to prepare it so my kids will like it. If I can get them to like it, then it should be a reciepe anyone would love!

Worst case I am out 15 min of time & a few rubberbands!

I love poke salet, but it does require special preparation. I would be leery of selling it to folks who are unfamiliar with it. Some one could get sick and reach for their lawyer.
