How to set up a farmer's market?

Our area has no farmer's market, but a lot of farms and a steadily rising population. There's been a lot of interest in seeing a farmer's market in our town, but it doesn't seem to be coming together. Does anyone here have any information about how to start a market, what kind of insurance issues/regualtaions there are, and what kinds of gvt boards I should be checking with? It would be great to see one here next year, or at least figure out why no one's put one up yet!

Get a group together and set up a steering committee. Put an announcement in your local paper for a meeting of all people interested in forming a farmers' market. that is where you will get your people.

The committee will have to make rules for the market, find a location, raise funds/set fees, find a manager and find farmers.

A good farmers' market takes quite a bit of planning and a lot of work.

The book "The New Farmers' Market by Vance Corwin, Eric Gibson and Marcie Rosenwieg is a fantastic resource
