I was thinking of trying hydroponic lettuce or spinach on a raft type system for sale at a winter market in months of Nov, Dec, January, Feb, march. I have the greenhouse that I'll be keeping around 45-50 to overwinter tropicals anyway. Does anyone have any input as to any of the finer points of this crop?
This market is pretty good. They started it last year, once a month, indoors, and we had some $80-90 weeks with nothing but a few small houseplants, and some onions to sell. (they didn't tell any of the vendors ahead of time so we could plan to have things growing and/or ready in storage). |

| I do okay with growing such crops in the soil in unheated hoop houses-spinach, lettuce as well as arugula and kale are all very cold hardy. Though some heat keeps them happiest. |
