Pksinan, we live in a medium-size city (200,000) and garden in the country. At one time, we were community gardeners and those gardens were close to downtown. Not the best experiences there and I'm sure some of our problems with vandalism would be repeated anywhere in the city.

We also had a small vegetable garden on a lot across the alley from us. We have since moved to another house or, I suppose, we'd still be doing that. That was also vandalized and remarkably the neighbor's grown kid came over to explain (didn't apologize or offer to pay - just explained how he was angry at his girlfriend).

It has been quite easy for us to find land that would otherwise be unused out in the country (or suburbs as it is becoming). People move out there to get away from city life and then haven't a clue what to do with their 5 acres. Often irrigation systems charge for water whether the property owners use it or not.

It requires commuting but the results are quite a bit more favorable for us.
