Where to plant garlic?

Being my second year with garlic, I failed to plan to keep a location open to plant it for this fall. I have 3 options.

1) A patch where we had potatoes this spring. It has been sitting empty most of the late summer, but I have about 75 feet of potatoes to dig (if they are still in worthwhile). If not worthwhile, I will just till them up. Could prep now and plant soon.

2) A patch that has sweet potatoes in it right now and we are digging them now and have lots to still dig. The ground is softer, but I probably won't get the sweet potatoes out for awhile.

3) A place we have okra growing and it is done. I could pull them out, till it up, make raised beds and then plant. Lots of work, but probably not my best soil.

I am leaning toward the #1 any thoughts?

Jay
