RE: Bittersweet

Bucky,
I don't grow it, but what I know is thatit is considered invasive in some parts of the country.

That being said, you need 1 male plant for every 5 female. Be sure that you get sexed stock or the vines won't have berries if you get all males or all females.

The price at market that I saw varied on the length of the vine. The range one guy sold was $1-$5.
Hope that helps.
Patty

Buckster,
Patty is right it is hugely invasive in my neck of the woods and is on the list of invasives that will nolonger be sold in MA begining 1/2007. That said I did notice that www.gardensnorth.com were selling seeds. Katy

I have bittersweet available in my yard. It is invasive but wow is it pretty to decorate with at Xmas!!!!
I'm going to get some this week to put around my wreaths. If you use it, just be careful not to let the seeds drop. It will spread quickly!
