around here the only way to get farm insurance is through the farm bureau. my homeowners policy covered a hoophouse that collapsed here due to wind. this is with allstate.

State Farm does not cover anything like a farmers market. They also will not cover a U-pick. I have State Farm for car insurance and check them first.

It's harder to find insurance for farm, and farm will not cover after you leave your property, per my insurance agent, plus a few others. You need a business policy for the market, but it might not cover a farm business. Very thin lines that most companies do not want to cross.

I have market coverage thru AutoOwners.

Sometimes you get cancellation notices in error so contact them. They do not cover farm businesses though.

KY has a good farm bureau that is actually interested in small farms.

Agents can only write the policy, and then the Underwriters are the ones that make the decisions whether the policy will be granted or not.

I've had this happen to me with other insurance.

Last year I was cancelled by State Farm after I had been with them for 50 years.I got the same kind of notice you got.I was shocked and thought it was a mistake.Like was stated above the Underwriters would no longer write a farm type opertation.I told the agent they should change their name to State City Ins.I have a small nursery and a truck,they dropped that part of my operation.
I went with Celina insurance out of Ohio and never looked back...STATE FARM SUCKS

I have Country Companies, and they have been real good. I contacted my agent yesterday about our proposed building, and it's not going to be a problem. It would be more complicated if I operated a U-Pick or had customers come to my farm. My operation is still going to be a rider to my home insurance.

I've heard a lot of bad things about State Farm. A fellow vendor had them for all his policies his entire life. Twice he had wind damage in ten years, and they dropped him instantly.
