early spring greens in high tunnel

hey

I am just about finished harvesting all of my fall/winter spinach crop in my 30x50 high tunnel. I have been told that over wintering spinach may create a huge aphid problem. So instead of harvesting spinach as a cut and come again, I have been harvesting it as the "whole plant".

I need to have my early tomato crop in the ht my early / mid April.

My question is ---- Is it viable to try for a very early crop of spring mix / arugula before the toms need to be in? Like starting them in mid feb to be harvested before april? anyone done this?

This is still my first year of high tunnel production, so I have a lot of doubts about what I am doing.

RE: early spring greens in high tunnel

Read your post a few time over the last few days thinking someone must have some suggestions. I would think that time is running out for starting the interseason crop. In our zone even the short season greens grow in slow motion or not at all during the winter months. In most situations you are better off to initiate the planting in Nov. to give the seedlings a little head start before the cooler season arrives.

Others may differ but I'd now wait and try to get your tomatoes in a little earlier. With a little extra heat I shoot for Mid-March tomato planting. By that time you might be also able to start greens, including spinach, outside.
