Thanks for this forum :-) I've enrolled in MG course

Hello everyone: I'd like to say "thank you" for this forum because it made me aware of something I never knew existed.

I was cruising through the different GW forums a few months ago & stopped in here to see what a "Master Gardener" was. I've read all postings--very interesting stuff.

Well, I love gardening, always want to learn more (because there's so much I don't know!), AND have been wanting to volunteer for something. This fits the bill.

The course starts in March and I like the fact the county's program is around 25 people. There was another county I could have registered in, but they have over 100 people enrolled AND it was $25 more for their materials. I hope the "smaller" group will allow for a better all-around learning experience.

I'm really looking foward to starting--wish it was tomorrow! :-)

Hi I am from Mid TN also. I took the course in was not disappointed. (who knows maybe you are taking it in the same county?!)
The one thing that was a let down, is I thought it would have been more hands-on. I think that is where joining your local master gardener society is important. I would guess at those meetings it is more hands-on.

I just started my MG class. Had no idea there would be an interview/cut process! Relieved I made the cut! :)

I've been a regular over at the Orchid Forum and just thought I'd check out to see if GW sponsored a MG Forum...what'd ya know? Here you are!

I am enrolled in the Master Gardener program for my county in Northern Virginia. The class started on Jan 5, 2005 and we don't graduate until March 28th. We have homework every night after class - class is two night per week-just like college.
We have all been assigned room moms & dudes to help with mentoring and that is nice.
Great opportunity to help your community and get involved in all types of gardening events.

Our course cost $75 for books and materials. I read where it was $25 in another posting and that is really a great price.
This week we are on soil samples, etc. So I better get to my homework
