Amorphophallus Help

Posted by sanfan z4 Ia (My Page) on

I have someone who has an Amorphophallus . He has had the same plant for 50 years. He said this year is the first time that it has every multiplied. He now has seven tubulars instead of one. He wants to know why it decided to divide now. My thought was that the original tubular has lost its strength and is probably going to die. Plants have a tendency to reproduce or produce extra seeds when they are dying. Does anyone else have an idea on this? Thanks

RE: Amorphophallus Help

If you don't get an answer here, I would try the Aroid Forum. Amorphophallus is an aroid.

You might want to make a note that the word is tuber, not tubular, in case you wanted to look it up.
