Wisdom from the Masters

I've checked this forum a couple times and I'm always surprised that it's so dead. I would think that the Master Gardeners would have so much to talk about, so many observations for the edification of us all. What's up with you guys? Cheryl

Cheryl,

I don't know if you have been on the Texas Gardening Forum, but I know a lot of us over there are MG's, and I think we stay over there because so many of us know or have come to know one another.

Cheryl,
It's not just the Master Gardeners forum, the Garden Writer's and the Georgia Gardeners forum are both quiet and have been for a while. Funny thing is, if I go on the Garden Writer's forum and say something about the forum being dead they come out of the woodwork chastizing me for negative comments. Like you, I don't understand why Master Gardeners don't come here in droves because this is the one place in the world where everyone can be heard and it it an excellent place to bring us all together. A local Master Gardener side we have the potential to be the biggest gardening entity on the planet. But I say we need cohesiveness and we need to think BIG. Maybe Someday. (PS, Maybe Someday is the title of my latest song - really)

The very top of this forum explains this forum is for the discussion of master gardener programs. It seems to be doing that. Al

To go along with Al's comments, the "edification" process typically takes place on specific forums addressing questions specific to the plant or activity under question. And it's not just restricted to Master Gardeners - there are a great many contributors out there that have areas of considerable expertise and can offer all manner of valuable and illuminating information. This forum is not necessarily intended to provide gardening enlightenment :-)

Besides, it's February and a good portion of the country is doing very little gardening at the moment. And I can't imagine very many MG associations are very active right now, either. Even here in the PNW where we can garden year round, the MG clinics, sales and demonstration gardens don't become active until around April.
