What ties us together?

On a local(cobb county) level the thing that unified us the most was our creation of a Demonstration Garden and holding programs open to the public there. Further up the ladder it seems the things that bring us together are an excellent state (GA)newsletter, an annual daylong symposium that is affordable and packed with excellent speakers. I understand a Southeastern Regional Master Gardener conference is in the planning stages and though there are National or International meetings I have not been to one of those yet. Your thoughts please?

RE: What ties us together?

Hey Eddie-I didn't know about the Regional conf. Is there a web site for this affair? I'm of the '03 class and am still trying to find my way around. I often stumble into things like this. I went to the '04 MS State conv. and really enjoyed it. I plan to make many more.
I am interested in you all's demo garden. Are there a certain requirements for these gardens, ie size, contents, etc?
Thanks,
Lynn

RE: What ties us together?

Lynn,
I found out about the Regional conference while I was at the Nashville Lawn and Garden Show in Tennesee.
The criteria for a Demo Garden can be anything you want. We started out with about 8 theme gardens and soon realized we should have made the paths between them much larger. After our programs we would gather comment sheets and some of the most frequent requests were that we provide more seating and more shade.
