Please help me, is there any way to kill ornithogulam umbellatum? I have tried Roundup at various times of the year to no avail.

Star of Bethlehem is one of those plants that is very hard to kill. It grows from a bulb and the best recommendation I've seen is to dig it up and destroy the bulb. This is one of the few organic things I would NOT put in a compost pile either unless I was very thorough in grinding up the bulbs and even then I'd think twice. This will probably have to be repeated a number of times to get good control. I'm sure this is not what you wanted to hear!

You will probably need to use your compost sifter to sift the soil to get the bulbs out. Al

Thanks, I tried the digging and sifting method several years ago, I think it's worse. That whole bed now looks like a grass plot, only it's the Stars of Bethlehem. I never let them go to seed. I pull the blooms off as soon as I see them. I would fumigate the whole bed, only it's rather large and has things I don't care to dig, like tree peonies. Fine Gardening says that roundup will do it. I tried field strength with vinegar in it, spring and after bloom, then the same strength with spreader sticker. I have spent a lot of time on this. It seems I can kill the large bulb, but there are always lots of small ones around it that don't die. There is a product named Manage that is supposed to kill nut grass. I guess I'll try that next.
