Activities planned for your MGs

I am curious what activiries other MG groups are having.
We just had an Easter Egg hunt and face painting at the Botanical Gardens. It was a huge success!
We are having a plant sale in a few weeks also that hopefully will be huge.
I spent a few hours with other MG dividing perrenials and potting hundreds of them up for the sale.
Sure was fun!
How many are planning garden tours, home and garden tours, water garden tours and such for the summer?
What other activities do you each have planned throughout the year?

Hi I am Pres this year and do have to find a speaker each month for after the meeting. We also are starting to do garden tours. Large Botanical ones plus other gardeners'
Because we have an influx of snowbirds here(the two footed kind) All our festivals seem to be jammed into the early spring months.I guess we consider that after Christmas until May! This weekend there are two Earth Day festivals in our county.There is also Frogleg Festival,Goby Fest,Arbor day,Fellsmere Day,Pelican Island Festival,and it goes on.
We do customer appreciation days at local gardens,read to students on Ag literacy day,This Friday we are helping elementary kids make seed necklaces. |

Off the top of my head and quickly here, we are:
-planning new city school gardens
-establishing hydroponics systems in schools
-working more plants into our demo gardens
-sending speakers into every direction possible ( we've had a tremendous response for speakers)
-growing plants for the many plant sales in May
-conducting compost workshops
-answering the hort phone line questions
-making more PowerPoint presentations and updating our file programs
-conducting workshops on planting, containers, pest ed, etc...
-conducting plantable greeting card, seed tape, seed mat workshops (that's me)
-attending area festivals and setting up our booth with Healthy Landscapes info
-touring botanical gardens in the area
-touring other MG gardens for ideas
-recruiting candidates for the new MG class
-attending update training at various colleges/places
-writing grant proposals
-working with youth in community gardens
-working with city lot gardens
-publishing a garden manual
etc...etc...etc...
There is a lot on our venue and too few MGs to go around! |
