| Hello all. I just wanted to know how, and why, some tree's around my house are dying. I lost a Norway maple 2 years ago. I'm losing a plum tree in my front yard. My neighbor lost 2 large oak tree's and a lot of the tree's in my area have thin area's and brown leaves on otherwise healthy tree's. Could it be from the gas lines underground? Could it be a common disease? I don't know. What I'd like to know is what can I do to help solve this problem before I start planting more tree's around my house. Can any of you guys, or gals, steer me in the right direction. Thanks. |

| Contact your local extension office and see if they have anyone that can come take a look at the situation. Some offices send someone on a site visit and some don't provide that service. If not, see if you can get a copy of a list of certified arborists in your area. You need someone to find out the exact cause of the decline. It may be weather related if you've had a drought like much of the east or it may be disease or other problems. But guessing is not the right way to go and without actual observation of the trees, any answer you get would be only a guess. Guessing about tree problems can end up being very expensive! |
