Making money

If your MG organization is looking for a fund raiser, I have a suggestion. Our Master Gardener organization funds our community projects with two major events. One is the Mothers Day Plant Sale and the other is the Christmas Wreath Sale. The Christmas wreath sale is by far the most profitable. Years ago we invested in two low tech devices for bending the wire wreath forms to attach the fir branches. We purchase the wire forms, wholesale fir trees and ribbon each year. We also construct sprays and garland. We have been making quite a profit. Of course, it goes to city beautification, gardening programs, and local grants. The members have a great time working (and eating pot luck lunches) for a couple of weeks while we make these items. We sell them for $20 to $25. This past season, we sold nearly 800 units. Just an idea.

What a great idea!!!! Congratulations. We are a small community and the local boy scouts have beat us to selling wreaths every year. Hopefully they will find something else so we can move in :-)
