Soil analysis, cleanup & amendment

Hi all,

In the back yard, we had a 20'x20' concrete porch-floor

removed recently. I noticed that after the cement removal,

quite a bit of rocks (size of 1"-2") were still left behind.

Have a few questions regarding this:

1. Before I remove the rocks and till the soil, do I need

to do anthing with the possible remnants of concrete etc?

Meaning, could what's left behind be toxic to the point

that I can't grow any vegetables there?

2. Should I get the top layer (how many inches?) of soil

hauled out?

3. Assuming the remnants are non-toxic, whats the best way

to remove the rocks after tilling? I'm thinking of

making a sieve with chicken mesh and filtering the rocks

thru that? Is there another easier way?

4. Also, what would be the amemndments I'd need to add to

get the soil back to a healthy state? Right no, not even

weeds seem to be able to grow there.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Regards,
