A favorite xeric and high country plant supplier has gone out of business.

Thanks for the information, nmgirl. We have lost several in our area, also. The sad state of the economy has been tough on all of us.

I just got a catalog from High Country Gardens so it seems they were able to stay open!

We are very excited to now be owned by American Meadows, a respected competitor in the mail-order gardening business for over 30 years. We understand that many of you have questions about what this means for us as a company. Please find answers to your common questions below and if you have any further questions, our customer service team will be more than happy to answer them. You can contact them by emailing plants@highcountrygardens.com.

Location: High Country Gardens will still be based in the west. All of our proprietary plants will be propagated by David Salman in Santa Fe while common varieties will be sourced from trusted partners in the region. We will ship from Denver due to its similar climate and centralized location. Rest assured that High Country will still be focused on waterwise plants for challenging growing conditions.

About American Meadows: Although American Meadows is located in Vermont, they have been serving gardeners all over the country for over 30 years. They are independently owned and have an excellent reputation for hardy products, great customer service and extensive information.

Announcement: We issued a press release on Thursday, February 14th and are working to update both websites with the relevant information. As you can appreciate, it’s a tremendously busy time of year.

Our Catalog: Yes, we will still be publishing our catalog. Look for it in your mailboxes in mid-March!

Our Quality: David Salman will continue as Chief Horticulturist and in that role, will be dedicated to ensuring that the High Country Quality continues.
