 o
will all this rain wreak havoc with bulbs & perennials?

In 16 years I've never seen a winter like this one. I was not able to apply mulch before the first snow, so I've protected some beds with my Christmas tree's boughs. Will the rain then refreezing kill my bulbs and hostas? Thanks!

Probably not if they are in a well-drained area.

I am worried about some of my plants in parts of my yard where the water doesn't drain well. I figured out a while ago that japanese irises would appreciate the damp conditions, but even they don't like having their roots encased in ice.

Could the ground be any more saturated? But I hate to think how far buried we'd be if it all came down as snow.

Thanks- my well is very happy but I wonder about everything else in the yard. The one upside of the weird weather is my grouse are back and brave enough to forage the front and side yards. They are beautiful to watch.
