Hi,

My mom has a house in Bangor, and it looks terrible. It's really in need of some landscaping. The lilac bush and bleeding heart that she loved so much died. I'd like to send her some bulbs and, when I visit, plant some perennials and shrubs for her that will increase her curb-appeal.

The problem is, I live in California, and any plant knowledge I have is not applicable for growing in Maine.

I need some expertese from gardeners who actually live in Maine! Would you kindly make some recommendations? She needs something to border the walkways and porch, something for under the windows, and something for between the windows...

What are the best types of perennials or bulbs to plant right now? I understand it's warmer much earlier this year. And when is the best time of year to plant crocuses?
