Whining again

Yes, I'm complaining about the weather again. It's too cold, too wet, too raw and miserable to even think of working in the garden. My seeds are rotting in the ground, my tomatos will probably die of frostbite, and I'm sick of this weather. I've lived in Maine for 20 years and this is the worst spring I can ever remember. PHOOOOOEY!!!

RE: Whining again

Joan,

This is just our third summer here and I am glad to hear that this weather is unusual. I was getting a bit worried. I have been working in the rain, doing some expansion work on our garden, and yesterday and today the cool rain kept the mosquitoes and blackflies more or less at bay. I have been using some repellent for the mosquitoes, which seem quite bold. We got some pole beans up during the brief warm period and now I am hesitant to plant more pole beans in this cold wet soil. It's good to know that next year may be better. Where is global warming when you need it? (grin)

I've lived here all but six of my 41 years and remember only one year that it was this miserable. Next week looks much better.

It was 92° Monday, 45° Wednesday. I don't know whether to build a fire or turn on the fan.

now stop your whining~ except for me and my lost asparagus patch....Maybe I'll wine some and some more and then I'll feel better.

Hows your mosquito counts? I try to move faster than they can!

RE: Whining again

I went out mid June and put plastic slitted row covers on my tomatoes. Now they are actually a whole foot tall :(
Most everything else got Reemay put on them. Slugs and red ants are THRIVING, I even woke up at 3 AM due to being bitten by a red ant in bed!!! Time to give in to diazinon.
