greenhouse heating with waterbed tubes

From Gorham... Wondering if anyone has ever recycled their outdated waterbed tubes (from somma type mattresses) in a greenhouse or coldframe. I have several to experiment with this upcoming winter and would appreciate any imput. My greenhouse is a Minipro 8x10. I see Farmtek sells water "walls" so am thinking along those lines... Tubes are not black, but are dark bluish. Any hints?? Thanks.

RE: greenhouse heating with waterbed tubes

Hello jenewene,

I am a new member to GardenWeb and just found the Maine Forum and your posting. I too have a small greenhouse (6 X 8) and was hoping to find someone in my area of Maine (Buxton) to share info with. Unfortunately, I can not comment on the waterbed tubes, but it is an interesting idea and worth a try! I have been researching thermal mass and want to store as much water in the GH for winter. I intend to plant veggies in there and seedlings in the Spring.
