Is it too late?

Is it too late to plant shrubs and/or can I overwinter in shrubs in pots in the garage? DH just mentioned that HD has 50% off on shrubs. We just bought a house needs foundation plantings.

RE: Is it too late?

It is getting a bit late. Although most hardy shrubs will probably be ok, if we get a fast freeze in the next couple weeks, their roots may not have established enough. I have bought shrubs on sale in late fall and stored them in my cool cellar. You could also store them in an attached, unheated garage. Key is cold (but slightly above freezing) and dark--the shrubs will go dormant. Water very sparingly, and bring outside into the light gradually beginning in March.

What shrubs are you thinking of buying?
