Baltimore Masterworks Chorale
Mark Hardy, Director
presents:

"Shakespeare in the Spring"
A Celebration in Music and Drama

Sunday, March 6, 2005 at 3:00pm
Grace United Methodist Church

5407 North Charles Street, Baltimore MD 21210

Tickets: $15 general admission/$12 students and seniors

For more information: 410-952-4234 or info@baltimoremasterworks.org

William Shakespeare used music as the source of songs, metaphors and
dramatic devices throughout his plays and poetry, making his own music with
his words. In turn, his vibrant writings have inspired composers ever since
to endeavor to catch that elusive energy in a melodic net of their own. This
concert brings together musical settings authored over the last 60 years,
from Ralph Vaughn Williams and Dominick Argento to David Willcocks, Robert
Washburn and and a world premiere from BMC director Mark Hardy.
The Chamber Singers from the Baltimore School for the Arts will be featured
in Vaughn Williams' "Serenade to Music". The Chorale and their guests, aided by
narrator Dennis Edwards of WJZ-TV, will bring you the Bard's familiar words
in a fresh and vivid way.

Oh my! Did the Baltimore Masterworks used to be called the Baltimore Choral Arts Society? I sang with that group for about 8 years, from my second year of college until I got married and moved to the DC area. Back then, Theo Morrison was the director. Anyway, we also practiced at Grace Methodist Church on Charles St. Boy does that bring back memories!

Wow, how many tickets do you have? My son is studying Shakespeare this semester (his performance is at the end of the term) and March 6th is his birthday! I would love some tickets if you still have any. thanks!

Sadly, The BMC used to be the Baltimore Symphony Chorus until the Symphony unceremoniously disbanded us a few years ago. Choral Arts is still going strong.

Anne, I should check this part of the forum more often!! If you post the next concert I will happily help to fill out your audience! (I'm a shameless groupie for a friend's flute group.) I think that you mentioned there is one scheduled for the day of the swap? I'll be pooped by then I'm sure but I wonder if you could post the dates for spring and summer concernts here so that we could plan??? Thx, Cynthia
