Glad you're feeling good, Henrietta. I hope to make the spring swap this year, so I'll start agitating now for it not to happen the weekend of May 5-6 (MD Sheep and Wool festival).

Another vote for not the 5/6 weekend. Traditionally we've normally done Saturday of the following (Mothers Day) weekend.

Glad to hear you are doing well! I am hoping to make the swap this year, too. I winter sowed today! Even though it hasn't felt like winter with the bulbs coming up.

I'm very happy to hear that you are doing well. It's incredibly generous of you to host each year, thank you. I love attending the event, chatting with all the gardeners, and of course trying out all the new stuff in my garden!

Love going to the swap, and am looking forward to seeing all the excited gardeners. Garden Gramma, thank you again in advance for opening your lovely home to us. And wonderful to hear that you are recuperating. Cheers, all!

It sounds like May 12 would be a good day. All in favor?

Any day EXCEPT May 12 is good for me. PLEASE pick a different date as I am really looking forward to seeing you all this year.

I think we've usually gone with the first Saturday in May because its been the same day as the Kentucky Derby. I'm not available the weekend of May 12.

Pippi let me know about this swap and I'm looking forward to meeting you all! I can do either the first or second Saturday in May.

May 12th works for me, not the 5th. How about shaking things up a little this year? With the early spring, could more gardeners do this the last Saturday of April? just a thought.

  • annebert

    Hmm,

I can't come on the 5th and would hate to miss Susan and Kim if it's held on the 12th. I'mm throwing my support behind April 28th. - if that works for Henrietta...

  • Babyberg

May is a crazy month for me this year. I vote for April.

  • alfie_md6

April 28 works for me if it works for Henrietta.

  • madsquopper

If the 28th, I'd have to miss it but Cathy would come. Still prefer the 12th (5th is out for both of us).

April 28 is also good for me. I think there will be less stress for the plants going in and out of the ground if it's earlier.

  • colleensworld

I would also like to vote for April 28. Everything is blooming so early that I would like to dig before all the plants are too established (and too big)!
I am looking forward to it!

    Hi,

I used to be on here more when I lived in PA but haven't been on a lot until we settled in our Balt. Co. house. Is this swap open to everyone? Is this different than the Frederick swap I just saw? Thanks for any info. I hope to join up. I used to help run a swap back home.

I would love to come to the swap if its in April. May 12th is the Paca Gardens Sring Plant Sale in Annapolis and the good stuff goes quick. Would hate to have to choose between the two. April 28th is the Historic Londontown Gardens Plant Sale but it usually starts at 8:00 so both are doable. Anyone know how to do the Wants, Haves and Food list?

  • kimka

I'll vote for April 28, given how early spring has come this year.

Although is anyone else starting to get the looming suspicion that will will get an early April snow storm to pay for all this warm weather. Wouldn't be the first time.

  • oscarthecat

    Wouldn't doubt it a bit.

  • alfie_md6

If somebody will make a decision, I will set up the lists.

  • madsquopper

We just need Henrietta to weigh in on the proposed dates.

  • sallyruth

Last year was my first swap and I was blown away. Just so fun. I am glad that Henrietta is doing well and must add that I was amazed both by her gorgeous garden and her generosity. I am looking forward to bringing lots of food. I moved into a new house and garden last year so I don't have much to offer, but I'll definitely come loaded with food. Any day that's good for Henrietta is great for me, but since the weather's been so mild and I'm itching to get going in the garden, I vote for April 28. Very much looking forward to seeing you all again this year.

Either April 28th or May 12th works for me.

Henny - does either of the dates work out for you?

In response to indogokat's question, this is not the same as the swap on 5/6 in Frederick. That one looks like a good option for those who can't make this one at Henrietta's house in Montgomery county, whenever we decide to make it.

I am new here. I will be checking this thread for the final decision about time and place of the swap. I have never been to a swap. looking forward to it.

Here are my options:Sunday may 13 or Saturday or Sunday may 19,20? The plants don't mind a little later because they will be more established- and I really can't do the earlier dates. So you guys figure out what works for most of you. And if someone would start the exchanges and point to the few "rules" I would be very grateful. I think we will have a ball as always. So take a count on those dates and let's make a decision. I love you all and when I was so sick I was dreaming about the fun we will have at the swap- that really helped my mood.

I vote for Saturday May 19.

    May 19 sounds great.

Thanks for opening your home to us once again Henrietta, you are most gracious.

  • madsquopper

May 19 is the big sale at Green Spring, but anyone who goes (including us) would get there early and leave by 10 at the latest. So we can make the swap if that date, but would be on the late side.

    Oh no :-(

May 19th is the date of the plant swap for the OTHER mid-atlantic gardening forum at dave's garden.

Can we do Sunday May 20th instead?

Maybe by some time next week we can make a decision. Let's do a head cout - is anyone volunteering?

  • oscarthecat

Sunday not a good day for some.

  • madsquopper

Just created a new thread with a survey link. Have at it.

    Larry

  • alfie_md6

    Thanks for the survey, Larry!

I can put up the have/wants/food threads, after there's been a decision on the date.

  • madsquopper

I added a question to the survey (should have done this originally). In addition to asking for your preferred date, I added a question for which dates you can attend. People who answered already (12) should be able to go back in and answer the second question if they want.

So far Saturday May 19 is leading with 7 (vs 3 and 2 for the Sundays).

    Larry

Here is a link that might be useful: Spring Swap Survey

  • dawnstorm

Whenever the swap is, I will provide the plates, napkins, cups, and plasticware. Any of the dates mentioned is fine by me.

  • madsquopper

Survey has been up for about a week. 21 responses (been at 21 for the past few days). Saturday the 19th is the big winner; 13 preferred that as opposed to 4 and 4 for the Sundays. And Saturday also leads in the second question, but not by as much.

So I'd say let's settle on the 19th.

Thank you, for May 19th. We have always had about 70, so I think now that we have a date - they will come. Thank you all.

  • alfie_md6

    The pages are up.

  • ssmdgardener

Alfie, where are the pages set up?

Also, what time does the swap start? I'm wondering if I could possibly attend both plant swaps in one day.

  • alfie_md6

On the Mid-Atlantic Gardening Forum page, near the top, there's a Go To: Exchanges:Conversations. If you click on the Exchanges link, you'll go to the exchanges page, which is where the haves/wants/food threads are.

I am so glad to hear Henrietta is feeling better after surgery. Sat., May 19th will be my second Spring Swap. I am looking forward to it. Thank You Garden Granma for your hospitality. I can't wait to see you and your beautiful garden.

Great news that Henrietta is well and the swap is there.
The last swap I was able to attend was there and I loved it. Just back on the shore after three years in Hot dry Arizona. Hope I can make it to the swap. I sure have missed it and all the lush green here in MD
