I'll probably be going there on Saturday, although I can't imagine where I would put any more plants. I hope the sale is still on by Saturday. I found some awesome stuff there last year, mostly not during a sale though!

Well, I did go and boy am I glad! Every house plant was 25% off, and selected marked ones were 50%. Some of the 50% off plants had a few bruised leaves, but some just seemed to be varieties of which they had too many.

I scored a new terrestrial orchid (my latest passion) - phaiocalanthe 'Kryptonite'!!! Glowing red flowers, sort of like a cattelaya but with cool leaves like a coconut palm. Bought yet another tropical hibiscus - a single red from the Trade Wind Breeze series that stays relatively small, thus making them easy to bring indoors over the winter. Got a small ponytail palm with really cool red tinting at the base of the foliage instead of the normal green. And a bird of paradise at 50% off, which I really have no room for but I had to get because it was such a bargain. And a Stuttgart canna tuber, something else I've been lusting after and was going to mail order at outrageous cost.

THEN I found the perfect plant stand, so I can double-decker the plants inside the house! Also found the perfect pond for my tropical waterlilies this summer, but I'll have to rent a truck and go back to buy that - it's 6 feet across and won't fit in my minivan.

Behnke's has a huge selection, their plants are always lovely, and at sale prices, they are quite reasonable.
