Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with Mandevillas coming back every year. Just built a new pergola and would love to grown mandevillas over the pergola - or if anyone has found a clematis the is lush and thick like mandevillas.

Mandevillas are a tropical vine and won't survive the winter outside here.( I live in Zuni from the Beach )You could look into Trumpet vine. Theres a red flowered one and one with yellow flowers thats pretty cool. Good luck! Eric

I plant mine in a pot about 18in wide and 18in high. then in the fall after first frost, i cut the vines back and keep them in my green house and put them back in spring (just did in fact on 4/21/08). my neighbor puts them in a sparebath room by a window. mandevillas grow very fast so its no big deal to cut them back and/or replant in the spring.
