Seed starting help

brenan

Hi all,

I'm trying to start some things by seed this year. My problem is figuring out when to start seeds inside. The seed packets say "start seeds indoors X-X weeks before last frost." Last frost in DC, according to all the books and websites I've read, is given as anything from April 24th to May 10. That seems like such a spread, so I thought maybe some of you with experience could tell me when to start these. I live in Maryland, but right on the border with (walking distance to) DC in PG county.

Anyway, I'd like to start seeds for

Tomatoes

Bell Peppers

Parsley

Basil

Zinnias (directly outside?)

Marigolds

Peas (directly outside)

Spinach (directly outside)

If any of you know a safe time to start these,or what works for this area, I'd really appreciate the info.

Thanks!

Brenan
