Hello gardenweb community, I am on a steering committee for a community garden being created in DC. We have 2.7 acres across from Washington Hospital. There will be garden plots available for the community, butterfly garden and an orchard designed as a forest garden. I am designing the forest garden. We are receiving 30 fruit trees from casey trees in DC. We still need fruit shrubs, berry plants and companion plants. Another community garden is offering strawberry plants if we dig them, and we are happy to come dig plants. If you would like to come help us plant trees or donate some plants, please join us. Our first community work day is Sunday, March 18.

Plants I'm looking for in the forest garden are:

Sea buckthorn berry shrubs, goumi, Siberian pea shrubs, blueberries, currants, honey berry, Flower bulbs, chives, lupines, comfrey, lemon balm, mint, sage, rosemary, hardy lavender, yarrow, blackberry, raspberry, goose berry, rosa rugosa.

If you have any of these to share, please let me know, we might be able to coordinate a pick up.
