Bare Root Bleeding Heart

I have four bare root bleeding hearts and don't know which end is the root. One end has four or five fleshy, long tubular projections that look like the stalks of the plant in Spring. The other end looks like a stub where a stalk was cut off; this end also has hairy fibers on it. Which is which?

RE: Bare Root Bleeding Heart

The end that looks like a stub is the top. The fleshy tubular things are roots.
