New Baltimore City Gardener w/ some questions

I live in the middle of the city so my garden is being put together essentially from scratch. I put together a 4'w x 12'l x 2.5'h wooden enclosure that's sitting on concrete and plan on filling it with dirt and will be planting vegetables in it. Here are my questions:

1) What mix of topsoil/compost/mulch do you recommend to fill this "container"?

2) Does anyone know of any cheap places in or around the city for compost and/or topsoil (delivery a plus)?

Hello

I would suggest a 50/50 mix of leafgro and topsoil. You'll need about 100 - 120 cubic feet of soil or 4 cubic yards.

Leafgro is available at most of the nurseries in bags and bulk. Look online under leafgro. This is made from composted leaves by the state of maryland. Avoid the human waste based product that the state also distributes.

The garden center ought to be able to mix the leafgro with 50% of good grade topsoil. Make sure they screen it for rocks etc. Delivery is usually at a fee and they may be unwilling to go off roads.

I have extra seeds if you're in need.
