I plant northern sea oats, which are supposed to need wet-ish ground.

I have the driest, most miserable heat in the entire state.
It is no joke that it never rains at my house. Long story about microcosm, atmospheric troughs, etc.

Anyway, I planted this stuff, and it does well. I don't want much, since I don't have water, but it grows.

I'd plant it in partial shade, though, since that gives it a little break. Even though grasses like full sun, you might watch how your first plants do and experiment with them.

I'm going to look it up. I have an extensive collection of grasses, but don't have anything blue. I do have Indian Steel, but I gave it away. Oh, my. I gave it to a friend named Vlad. Hmmmm.... with the Internet, everyone lives forever, don't we?

I'd love to trade some with you. Gosh, I have lots of switch grasses, variegated, bloodgrass, black moudry, dwarf hamlins, gracillimus, and other things.

If you're coming to the swap and any interest you, I'd love at least one with a root. Plant one? You've got a meadow. :)

Thanks for your advice Christine. My blue oat grass is so small - got them from Bluestone last Fall.
We have a steep hill in the front of our house that is dangerous to mow. I planted a variety of groundcovers and this grass and some species tulips. I can't wait to see things come up. I am ordering some very short rugosa roses (Charles Albanel) to add to the plan.

I've read about the swap for years while (mostly) lurking on Gardenweb. Most of the things I could trade are pretty common, some even invasive. I've felt that if I want to trade I'd better have something good! I have heard that you guys will accept food though...
