ground ivy overrunning berry patch

robertbirder

help! ground ivy is overrunning my berry patch, choking out strawberry plants, and even growing in the pine needles I use to mulch blueberries and be toxic to all others. the ivy is flowering now, so it's pretty and easy to find and pull, but it is endless. it must love the acidic clay soil here.

any suggestions? I can't spray it without spraying the berry plants. when I pull each weed, I leave it to compost on the spot. could the blooming flowers have seeds inside mature enough to restart the cycle?

thanks.
