Container trees/srubs for privacy?

Hello, I am looking for suggestions on trees/shrubs to use in containers to create a privacy barrier along the edge of my small patio. I live in SE PA, so have hot, humid summers and cold winters. The patio gets full sun in the afternoon. I am currently using dwarf alberta spruce, but got a terrible spider mite infestation last summer. Must be able to stay outside over winter and would prefer a confier so it would stay green all winter. Does not need to be as dense as the alberta spruce, but needs to stay rather compact because there is not a lot of room for the tree to spread. Have read about hollies, etc. but need something that is going to give me the height of a privacy barrier (~5ft?). Hope for something easier to care for (disease & pest wise) than the alberta spruce! Thank you.
