It is so nice to see those! They were certainly rare or endangered in New England. There was a hollow full of them at the home I grew up in. I don't think I've ever seen one in Merry-land, but my experience doesn't mean much :)

What part of MD do you live in? Of course I've lived here in Mont. Co all my life and have only seen one hummingbird, but my husband who has been living in this area for almost 20 years sees hummers every $%^^&$ year.
Jealous? Who me?? No, I'm not jealous!!
I've seen yellow lady slippers in various parts of the state and I've seen some nice looking jack in the pulpits in the local park.

Heck, come over and sit quietly on our deck and the hummingbirds will practically come up and bite you on the nose. We grow lots of tropicals in pots just to attract them up there.

I am in the northern most part of Baltimore County. Summer will bring even more Hummingbirds to my deck. I keep a hummingbird feeder right on the deck. They do become use to us and just fly around us.

Dawnstorm, grow some agastache. Hummers come from seemingly nowhere when our agastaches go into bloom. We got ours from the High Country Gardens catalog, but you could probably get some from a seed trade, neighbor, or nursery as well.
