Moles are carnivores and as such are harmless to your plants.
However the downside is that other critters, gophers, voles , shrews, mice etc. will use the tunnels made by Mr. Mole. When we moved here the place had every underground varmint known to man. I tried every trap, trick and poison to no avail. Then one day I spotted a big black snake going across my property. He stopped, turned and dived into a compost heap. In a relatively short time my place was free of rodent pests and haven't seen one in years. If you decide to have a good snake in residence perhaps you would not want to tell your wife about it.
