Ask for Alfalfa pellets. I get mine from Booth feeds, which has a presence at Tysons corner, in case you are ever in that neighborhood.

I just got picked up a 50 pd bag ($9.50) at Southern States in Upper Marlboro. Ask for pellets, but check the label to make sure that it has no salt or sugar. Some folks might mistakenly give you rabbit food containing such additives. That you don't want.

You can get these at pets smart as rabbit food, but a 50 lb bag is far cheeper at a feed store. Do you have a Southern States in your area? If not check the yellow pages to see what is around your area. They are on my reg shopping list at the feed store for my horses.

I have been purchasing 50# bags of alfalfa pellets for about $9.50 at the TSC in Leesburg VA. I checked their website (www.mytscstore.com) and they list Maryland stores in Mount Airy and Westminster. Not sure how close you are to those locations.
