cherry tree leaves dying

We have several 20 year old cherry trees that bloomed very nice this spring. Recently we noticed that the leaves on the ends of many of the branches are turning brown and curling up. They look dead, but they're not falling off. Are the trees sick or is this a result from the bad winter we had? Thank you!
