Bloom time depends on many factors. Gladiolus blooming dates are from VE (very early) 65-70 days to VL (very Late) 120 days. However the average bloomtime is around 82 to 87 days.
Large bulbs, 2inches in diameter bloom earlier than bulbs 1 in in diameter. How deep did you plant? Bulbs planted 6 in deep will take longer to bloom than bulbs planted 4 in deep. Are they in full sun? Do they get water as needed. I'll bet I've told you a lot more than you wanted to know. Steve in Baltimore County

Thanks, Steve. I don't remember when I planted them. They were small bulbs that I bought on a whim, one of those cheap bags of bulbs from Lowes. Don't remember how deep I dug the hole. They are getting probably close to 5 hours of morning sunlight a day and plenty of water. It just seems that by now I should be seeing the stems coming up that hold the flowers and instead all I have are leaves. I will just keep waiting . . .

Oh my goodness, I walked outside today and noticed that two of the gladiola stems had flowers on them, and a third has buds! And they are a beautiful violet color!
