Orchid Symposium in Richmond, Virginia

The Virginia Orchid Society presents a special event with two speakers, Fred Clarke and H. P. Norton, on September 9, 2006, 1-5 p.m. at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, Richmond, Va.

Fred Clarke---"Cycnoches, Mormodes and Catasetums: Some Current Trends." Fred Clarke of Sunset Valley Orchids in Vista, Calif., specializes in his own breeding lines developed there. His efforts have been rewarded with six FCCs from the American Orchid Society . He has achieved recent acclaim for the Fredclarkeara hybrids that are the closest to a true black in orchids.

H. P. Norton---"Phragmipediums." H. P. Norton of Orchidview Orchids in Moncks Corner, S.C., is an acclaimed breeder and grower of Phalaenopsis and Phragmipediums. He will have plants of the cross of Phrag. Kovachii x besseae for sale which will be a first for our area.
