Overwintering Job's Tears?

gemini_jim

Hi all,

I'm growing this useful grass (Coix lacryma-jobi) for the first time and wondered if anyone has had success overwintering the mature plants in the ground here in the Mid-Atlantic. They are listed as hardy to zone 9a, but reading the palm survival thread here has made me think it's worth a try. I know they are easy to start from seed, but it seems that established plants would grow bigger and flower sooner next season.

I also posed this question on the ornamental grass forum, but no replies so far. Maybe job's tears just aren't ornamental enough!

Thanks,

Jim
