How long is the growing season here?

Basically, until what day will my tomatoes grow? It's getting late, and there's only a few ftomatoes, but lots of flowers.

On Long Island, things were magically over at the end of August. Is it the same here?

I was still picking tomatoes right up until the first frost. When I knew that the cold was coming, I cut branches with green fruit and put them in sunny windows. They ripened slowly and weren't as tasty as the summer ones, but we had fresh tomatoes until January.

We have a long growing season here; welcome to the sunny southland!

Thanks for letting me know. I feel better. Can you give me an idea of approximately when the first frost is?

Thanks

First frost in zone 7 (Richmond) area is usually around October 15. Some years it's as late as early November. In Vienna you might be just a bit earlier.

I just moved from Ohio - I'd bet it's about two weeks longer on both ends here.
