does the impossible. Won the dahlia show at the Maryland State Fair. Kiara Pompadour, blue ribbon, Grand Champion, winner of the Helen Burns Smith trophy. The trouble with hanging out with Oscar he is such a modest sucker. When I got there a really fine looking woman was setting up some great dahlias. I asked her if she was married. She said yes. When you are 79 years old answers like that do not bother you. So I said how about moving in with me and help me grow dahlias. She told me to get lost. Win some lose some. Happy Labor Day. Steve S.

Congratulations Steve. I am glad you are keeping up your good spirits without Margaret.

How about a photo of that Grand Champion dahlia?

Wow, congratulations on the win (too bad about the date).

And we want photos...of the dahlia.

Way to go Steve. Not only are you a grand gardener, but a talented storyteller. You should put together a book with your short quips and life lessons. I bet it'd be a best seller.
I was lucky like that last year at the MD State fair.
One of my flower arrangements won blue, Champion and then Reserve Grand Champion. It's a thrill. This year 2 blue ribbons and 4 second. More people should enter the fair.
Healthy competition between gardening friends is a good thing.
I wish I had known you entered another of your flowers. I remember your win a few years ago with the gladiola.
Congratulations, Steve.

Congrat's!!!! I also think you are a great storyteller. Have you ever heard of the journal _Greenprints_? It is garden themed and I think they would love your stories. If you are interested I could even send you a couple copies for your perusal.

Hey, that's a better line than the old pick up line about "showing you my etchings" Congrats on your win at the Md. State Fair.
